Spamhaus Data Query Service (DQS) - the Easy Way to Protect Against New & Emerging Spam, Malware, Phishing & More

By Brad Wyro

MDaemon Technologies has partnered with Spamhaus to bring real-time threat intelligence and an additional layer of security to MDaemon and SecurityGateway.

Available in both MDaemon Email Server and SecurityGateway, the Spamhaus Data Query Service (DQS) is a Reputation Data Service that uses Spamhaus' real-time DNS blocklists (DNSBLs) to block over 99% of the latest new and emerging email-borne threats.

Consisting of continuously updated IP, domain & hash data, the Spamhaus Data Query Service draws on a dataset that analyzes roughly 7.5 million IPs and 3 million domains every day, along with thousands of active botnet command-and-control detections, to protect users from malware, phishing, botnets, spam, and more.

When used in conjunction with the existing email security tools found in MDaemon and SecurityGateway, the Spamhaus Data Query Service:

  • Protects businesses from obvious spam sent from known botnets and spammers' IP addresses
  • Provides detailed analysis to identify emails containing malware or links to new websites that are controlled by spammers and cybercriminals

Since DQS was first introduced, adoption has expanded across both products, and setup remains just as simple: enable it from MDaemon's Remote Administration settings or SecurityGateway's Anti-Spam settings, add your Spamhaus usage key, and you're protected in minutes. A free 30-day trial is available for organizations that want to evaluate the service before subscribing.
